So we often find ourselves working on old applications, customers applications, and new applications all at the same time. And the odds of these applications being at the version of rails are very slim. Five Runs has a great post on how to deal with freezing specific versions so that you can drop them into the vendor folder of the app and move on with making the neccessary changes.
